Just Swingin'

We took Henry to play at the park today. Our friends Nathan, Jennifer, Noah and Ava invited us to go to the "super park" as Noah calls it. I have been wanting to take Henry to play at the park for a while now but wanted to wait until Stephen could go too. Henry had so much fun on the swings. He kicked his legs and smiled the whole time! (Aparently, it never gets old since Ava was giggling like it was her first time on a swing also!) I have some pictures of Henry swinging to share. Next time, I think I'll bring my big camera. The little one I have in Henry's diaper bag didn't work very well capturing the action. I'm sure there is a way to change the shutter speed, but that would require reading the manual! I tried every button on the camera and couldn't figure it out. I guess these pictures will just have to do for now.

The Past Few Months

I've been quite a slacker the last two months and haven't taken the time to update our blog. I figured it was time to update it and maybe do better keeping it up! We've had a pretty busy couple months at the Johnson house.

In March, we got in a little wreck while going out to take pictures. Everyone was fine. However, we decided to go ahead and have Henry checked since he can't tell us whether or not he is hurting. It ended up being a blessing in disguise. Henry has obviously had torticollis since birth and his peditrician hadn't noticed it before checking him from the wreck. So, he sent us to see a physical therapist. Henry did so well with that. We had our third visit today and the therapist feels he doesn't need to be seen again. He is now turning his head very well in both directions. She told me that she thinks he is the strongest baby she has worked with!

Henry is sitting up very well on his own now. He is also rolling all over the house! He is loving all of his toys (especially if someone else is playing with them) now that he can interact with them more. He is getting to where he doesn't want to be in his walker or jumperoo anymore. He thinks he needs to be on the floor all the time. I guess that is because he can go places now. He has also learned how to say "dada". I guess I don't have to tell you how much his daddy loves hearing him say that. Henry thinks it is so funny to say it or to hear anyone else say it. That is how I have been getting him to smile for pictures here lately. He giggles everytime!

Stephen got accepted in the Nurse Practioner Masters Program at MUW in Columbus. He will start that in a few weeks. It is only a one year program. It will be a very crazy year for our family, especially for Stephen. But, I know it will fly by. Stephen is so excited about this opportunity and I know he will do well.

I am still working on the photography business. I am really enjoying every opportunity I have recieved to photograph others. It is like Christmas everytime I get a picture order delivered! Stephen and Henry got me an awesome new lens for Mother's Day. It should here Thursday. I can't wait to take some pictures with it!

I guess that is about it for the update. However, I can't just end a blog without a picture! Here is Henry apparently trying to let me know that he was tired of having his picture taken!

Sitting Up

I think I posted the other day that Henry is learning how to sit on his own. It is still a learning process, but he is getting much better at it. He is able to sit on his own for a minute or two before tumbling over. Here are a few pictures we were able to get of him sitting by himself this morning.

Free At Last!

Henry has been sleeping in a swaddle blanket since the day he was born because supposedly that is the best way for babies to sleep. Well, what they didn't tell us was that sometimes babies get attatched to the swaddle blanket. Henry could not sleep without his. Since swaddle blankets are only rated up to 20 pounds and he is 21 pounds, we figured it was time to break him. It took three times of putting him down without the blanket for him to finally realize that he could sleep without it. We tried a few weekends ago to break him and unfortunately he won that battle. After a few weeks of getting up at all hours when he got loose and couldn't get back to sleep we decided to give it another try. Thankfully, it looks like this time will be a success! Here are some pictures of him in his newfound freedom. I have been looking and can't find any decent pictures of him before we took the blanket away(which makes me very sad). I'm almost tempted to give it back just for a picture since it has been an important part of his life for the past 5 1/2 months!

Baby or Puppy?

I thought this picture was too cute not to share. Now that Henry has teeth he hooks his toys over his teeth to hold them! He kind of looks like a little puppy dog carrying his toys. If you look close, you can see his teeth.

It's Been A While

It has been a while since I have been able to take the time and post a new blog. So here is an update of all that is going on in the Johnson household.

Henry is finally starting to get well! Hopefully, he will stay that way. We have actually gotten to enjoy going outside to visit with the neighbors a few times this past week. What a welcomed treat after being stuck inside for so long. Henry really enjoys being outdoors. Henry is also cutting his two bottom teeth. We didn't even realize it until he smiled at me one day and I caught a glimpse of something white. Of course, I had to go get a spoon to tap on it and be sure it was a tooth. Bless his little heart, we didn't know so we didn't give him anything to help with the pain until after it had cut through the gum! He is such a sweet baby that he never fussed about it. So, maybe he got lucky and wasn't in very much pain with the whole teething process. Here is a picture of his new tooth. He is just growing up so fast.

I am working on starting a photography business. So, much of our spare time is consumed with that. I will have to post a seperate blog with some pictures I have taken recently. It has been so much fun (mixed with a little stress) getting everything started. Please pray for us as we take this leap. We are very excited about this opportunity for me to be able to contribute to our income and still be able to stay home with our little man and do something I love. I do have a website, if you're interested in checking it out. It is www.tamijohnsonphotography.com .

Stephen has applied to two different master's degree nursing programs. We are praying that if it is God's will for our lives that he will be accepted to which ever one he is supposed to be accepted to. He is planning to pursue a career as a Nurse Practitioner. He should find out some time in April whether or not he has been accepted.

I guess that is about all that we have going on right now. Henry is in the process of learning to sit up his own. Maybe before too long, I will be posting about his success in that area!

Big Boy

Henry is only four months old, but this morning I had to dress him in an 18 month outfit! I can't believe how fast he is growing! I'm reconsidering all of his summer clothes now! I had thought we would be able to buy 12 month clothes. Now I am thinking we may just skip 12 months and go straight to 18 month! After dressing him I started looking in his closet to see what all he has and we don't even have the right sizes to make it through the next few cold days! I had really thought since he was so small at birth we wouldn't need anything bigger than 6 months for this time of year!
