Big Boy

Henry is only four months old, but this morning I had to dress him in an 18 month outfit! I can't believe how fast he is growing! I'm reconsidering all of his summer clothes now! I had thought we would be able to buy 12 month clothes. Now I am thinking we may just skip 12 months and go straight to 18 month! After dressing him I started looking in his closet to see what all he has and we don't even have the right sizes to make it through the next few cold days! I had really thought since he was so small at birth we wouldn't need anything bigger than 6 months for this time of year!

Rice Cereal

Henry got his first taste of food (if you'd call it that) Sunday night. We waited until he was over his illness to even attempt introducing food. He absolutely loved it. He would lean forward trying to get to the spoon if we were taking to long getting it to his mouth. At first he was getting a little upset with his daddy for wiping his mouth between every bite. I finally had to tell him it would be okay if Henry got a little messy. After Stephen figured out that a dirty child was not the end of the world, Henry did great! Henry has also been getting juice since his 4 month checkup. He has gotten very vocal about the fact that he prefers the juice over formula! He will scream and kick while we are feeding him until we give him the juice. After he finishes that he is fine to drink his formula!

What A Year

Yesterday, January 24, 2009, marked exactly one year from the day we received the best news that we never thought we would receive. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the day we found out we were going to be parents. I still remember that night as clearly as if it was just yesterday. My only regret is that I didn't think to get a picture of the look on Stephen's face as the news was sinking in! He looked as if he had just seen a ghost! I would have been concerned that he wasn't excited about our news if it had not been for the smile he couldn't wipe off! He was so shocked he couldn't even speak. I remember calling everyone in our family to let them know about the exciting change in our lives. After seven years of waiting for that day, there were several tears cried by everyone who had a part in our long journey. I remember telling Stephen that he could tell our good friends, Nathan and Jennifer, and him saying that he couldn't because he was too in shock to speak! However, neither of us had to say a word. When we walked in their house they knew! When we returned home, I remember going in the kitchen for a glass of water. Stephen followed, took the glass out of my hand, picked me up and started jumping up and down screaming "we're going to have a baby!". What a wonderful night that will forever be just as clear in our minds and what a wonderful joy to know that our Heavenly Father has trusted us enough to allow us to train up His child in the way he should go. We are blessed beyond measure.

Is There Anything Better?

Stephen will probably kill me for posting this, but I couldn't resist! I love to watch him interact with Henry. He stayed up last night taking care of Henry while I got some rest. So, this morning I have just been watching the two of them get some much needed rest. Don't they look so peaceful? We are so completely blessed to have this little boy in our lives.

Henry's First Illness

We had to take Henry in to the after hours clinic Thursday night. For the past few days he has been a little congested and we just thought it was the weather changing since he wasn't running a fever or really acting too sick. Well, Thursday evening he started wheezing, so we decided to go ahead and take him to the doctor. Henry was diagnosed with RSV and given a breathing treatment. We are now doing breathing treatments every 3 hours for 24 hrs. and then every 4hrs.. Thank goodness I have a wonderful husband who was very willing to take the day off to help take care of Henry. He is just so pitiful! There is nothing worse than watching him suffer and wishing you could take it from him. Here are a few pictures of our sick little man.

Henry is 4 Months Old!

It is hard to believe that our little man is already 4 months old! He is growing up too fast. We went for his 4 month check-up on Wednesday (his actual 4 month birthday). In just four months, Henry has gone from weighing a tiny 5 pounds 13 ounces to weighing 19 pounds now! As we sat in the waiting room, we saw a tiny little 3 month old girl. I made a comment about how Henry was double her size and her mother said "well, she was only 5lbs. 14oz when she was born" . I don't think she believed me when I told her Henry started out that little also! Anyway, here are his 4 month stats and a picture (not the greatest) of his little legs with his bandaids after shots.

Four month stats:

Weight-19 pounds (>95%)

Length-25 inches (50%)

Head Circumference- 16.5 (25-50%)

I guess we don't have to worry about him tipping over, he has the weight to hold his head up!
